A SaaS platform with subscriptions and member accounts, launched with 4buildsite
Launch a web app people use through an account and a recurring subscription: a listings portal, an auction site, an online course platform or a paid member directory. You get the accounts, the subscription plans, recurring billing and the admin panel — without writing a backend from scratch.

What is a SaaS platform?
A SaaS (Software as a Service) platform is a web app users access with their own account and pay for on a recurring basis — monthly or yearly — instead of buying a product once. Unlike an online store, where revenue comes from selling products, here revenue comes from subscriptions: every member has an account, a plan, access rights and billing that renews automatically.
Short answer — how you launch a SaaS platform with 4buildsite
- Pick the platform type (listings portal, auctions, online courses, member directory) and start from a ready-built template.
- Define the subscription plans: what a free member can do, what the paid plan unlocks and at what renewal price.
- Publish: users create accounts, pay by card, subscriptions renew automatically, and you track members, recurring revenue and retention from the panel.
What kinds of SaaS platforms you can launch
They all run on the same engine — accounts, plans, recurring payments, moderation — and differ in what users publish and search for.
Listings portal
Users post listings, search by category and location, and pay for promotion or listing packs. The classic classifieds model, at local or niche scale.
Example: regional property listings, with a promotion pack at €10/monthAuction site
Lots with a starting price, bid increment, deadline and outbid notifications. You charge through the bidder's subscription or a commission on the winning lot.
Example: farm-machinery auctions, with a per-season participation feeOnline course platform
Courses split into modules and lessons, subscription-gated access, per-student progress and a certificate at the end. Teachers manage their own content.
Example: a language school with monthly access to every courseDirectory or membership community
Company or specialist profiles, paid listings, members-only content and automatic listing renewal. A good fit for associations and niche catalogues.
Example: an industry supplier catalogue, listing at €40/yearHow you launch the platform in three steps
1. Pick the type and the template
Start from a portal, auction or course template and customise it visually in the editor: colours, logo, page structure and copy. You never start from a blank page.
2. Configure plans and rules
Set the subscription plans, prices and limits, who is allowed to publish and what gets moderated before it appears. All from the panel, no code.
3. Publish and track recurring revenue
The platform goes live on your own domain, with hosting and SSL included. The panel shows active members, monthly recurring revenue, new subscriptions and cancellations.
What the platform gives you
The pieces that separate a website from a subscription app are already built and configurable from the panel.
Accounts, roles and permissions
Sign-up, login, password recovery, profiles and roles (visitor, member, paying member, moderator, admin). Each role sees exactly what it is allowed to see.
Subscription plans
Define plans with monthly or yearly pricing, a trial period and limits (how many listings, lots or courses). Members upgrade from their own account.
Recurring billing
Card payments through Stripe, automatic renewal, retries on declined cards, self-service cancellation and invoicing for every charge, depending on your country and set-up.
User-generated content
Members publish their own listings, lots or lessons through a dedicated form, with images and moderation before they go live. You approve or reject from the panel.
Search and filters
Full-text search, category, price and location filters, sorting and pagination — built on the platform index, not bolted on as a plugin later.
Your domain and your brand
The platform runs on your own domain with SSL included, and you set the logo, colours and copy in the editor — members sign in at your address, not a generic one.

Advantages
- Predictable recurring revenue instead of one-off sales — a member pays month after month.
- You launch in days, not months: the accounts, subscriptions and payments engine is already built.
- The cost is a monthly subscription, not tens of thousands of euros of upfront development.
- Hosting, SSL, updates and security included — no servers for you to maintain.
- Content structured for SEO and GEO by design, so the platform is easy for search and AI answer engines to read.
- Development hours included in the higher plans, for the logic specific to your niche.
Limits — stated plainly
There are cases where a subscription platform is not the right answer:
- If you sell physical products as a single seller, you need an online store, not a subscription platform.
- If several sellers sell and the money must be split per transaction, the right page is the multi-vendor marketplace.
- Highly specific algorithms (complex matching, custom scoring, custom escrow) need development hours, not just panel configuration.
- A SaaS lives on retention: without content or a community that brings members back monthly, subscriptions get cancelled fast.
Verdict
Choose the SaaS platform if your revenue comes from subscriptions and member accounts — a listings portal, auctions, online courses or a paid directory. If revenue comes from selling your own products, go with the online store; if it comes from commission on other sellers' transactions, go with the marketplace.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a SaaS platform and a marketplace?
On a marketplace, several sellers sell products or services, you take a commission on each transaction and the money is split automatically between seller and platform. On a SaaS platform, users pay a subscription for access to the app — posting listings, bidding in auctions, taking courses — whether or not a transaction happens between them. Many projects combine both: a subscription for visibility plus a transaction commission.
What does a SaaS platform cost with 4buildsite?
You pay a monthly platform subscription rather than tens of thousands of euros of upfront development. There are dedicated packages per vertical (listings portal, auction site, e-learning) and general plans that scale with the number of members and the features you unlock — for example development hours. The mobile app, with push notifications, is a separate subscription. See the pricing page for current plans.
Can I charge recurring subscriptions by card?
Yes. Recurring billing runs through Stripe: the member enters their card once, the subscription renews automatically on its due date, declined cards are retried, and cancellation is self-service from their account. Whether an invoice is issued for each charge depends on your country and set-up.
Can users publish content themselves?
Yes — that is the point of the platform. Members publish listings, auction lots or lessons through their own form, with images. You decide whether publishing is immediate or goes through moderation, and what limits each plan carries (how many active listings, how long they stay online, how many images).
Do I need developers to run it?
Not for day-to-day operation: plans, prices, categories, moderation and pages are all changed from the panel. You only need development for logic specific to your niche — a matching algorithm, custom scoring, an integration with an internal system. For that, the higher plans include development hours from our team.
Can the platform have a mobile app too?
Yes. The same platform produces the Android app build (APK or AAB) with push notifications — especially useful for auctions (outbid alerts) and listings (alerts for a new match on a saved search). For iOS you get the source project, which you compile on macOS with Xcode; push notifications are available on Android. The mobile app is a separate “Mobile app” subscription, not included in the SaaS plans; the number of builds per month depends on its tier (5, 10, 15 or 25).
