4buildsite or Shopify: which one for an online store?

Short answer

1. Shopify publishes its monthly plans in lei on its official pricing page. As of 24 October 2026, the Basic plan showed 139 lei a month on monthly billing and 99 lei a month on annual billing.
2. 4buildsite is a no-code builder for presentation sites, online stores, marketplaces and mobile apps, with cart, checkout and payments through Stripe, PayU or Netopia.
3. Choose Shopify if you need a payment method or integration 4buildsite does not offer, such as PayPal, which we have not implemented.
4. Choose 4buildsite if you want the website and the store in one place, with SEO, sitemap and llms.txt included, and your payments are card, cash on delivery or bank transfer.
5. Check current prices on each provider's own pricing page before you decide, because they change.

How to compare the two

• Monthly price: Shopify publishes it in lei. Its payment processing fees are published separately on its site and are added on top of the subscription.
• Payments on 4buildsite: Stripe (through Stripe Connect), PayU, Netopia, cash on delivery and bank transfer. PayPal is not implemented.
• Shipping on 4buildsite: the store owner sets the shipping rates. Live rate calculation at checkout is not implemented. Integrations with Fancourier, Sameday, Cargus, DPD and GLS exist in the code but have not yet been verified on live courier accounts.
• Tax documents on 4buildsite: orders can be sent as invoice drafts to 4invoices. Sending e-Factura to ANAF is not done from 4buildsite.
• SEO on 4buildsite: an SEO audit, sitemap, llms.txt and a Google Search Console connection are included in the platform.

Practical examples

• Hypothetical example: a maker with 40 products who wants card and cash-on-delivery payments compares monthly costs on each pricing page and does not need PayPal.
• Hypothetical example: a company that only wants a presentation site with a contact form does not need a store, so it compares only the presentation plans.

Common mistakes

• You compare only the monthly price and ignore payment processing fees.
• You assume a feature exists because it appears on a marketing page. Check the capabilities page or ask support.
• You choose by the number of apps and do not check which integrations you actually need.
