Free GEO audit

Free GEO audit

How ready your site is for AI engines and generated answers (GEO).

Tools · GEO & AI

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) means preparing your site so AI answer engines can read and understand it. This audit shows what to check: structured data (schema.org), content that is extractable in short sentences, question-and-answer sections, and a clear heading structure. Sites built on 4buildsite include these elements from the start.

  • Structured data (schema.org): Organization, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Product.
  • Extractable content: short, clear sentences, each stating one fact.
  • Question-and-answer sections on key pages.
  • Headings (H1/H2) that match the meta title and description.

How does it work?

Check the structured data. Important pages should output schema.org markup: Organization on the home page, FAQPage where you publish questions and answers, Product on product pages. You can test them with Google's Rich Results Test.

Assess how extractable your content is. Answer engines find it easier to use short sentences, each with one clear fact, than long and complicated paragraphs.

Add question-and-answer (Q&A) sections that answer your audience's questions directly. This is a format that is easy for answer engines to extract.

Keep headings consistent. The page H1 should match the meta title and description, so search and answer engines can tell what the page is about.

Frequently asked questions

What is GEO, and how is it different from SEO?

SEO improves a site's ranking in classic search results. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) prepares a site so that AI answer engines, such as AI Overviews or ChatGPT, can read and understand its content. The two complement each other, so most sites benefit from both.

Why does structured data matter for AI answer engines?

Structured data (schema.org) states explicitly what the content is: a question, a product or an organization. Search and answer engines can use it to read the information more accurately. It does not guarantee that a page will appear in AI-generated answers.

What does "extractable content" mean?

Extractable content is made of short, clear sentences, each stating one fact, that can be lifted directly into a generated answer. Long, ambiguous paragraphs are harder for an answer engine to quote accurately.

How can I check on my own whether my site is ready for AI?

Test your key pages in Google's Rich Results Test for structured data. Check whether you have question-and-answer sections. Read the text the way an answer engine would: does a page answer one question clearly? Finally, confirm that the headings match the meta tags.
